About Us

We need colour in life

I have painted for many years and love the texture and colour around us. Felt making and embroidery which give textural quality to the finished piece are often used.  With the current wish to recycle and reuse I often make paper to create the required depth needed when impressed with different forms.  I live and work as a gardener in North Devon so have a love of nature and the countryside in which I desire to explore in more depth with an artist eye.

2008 - BIG DRAW at Marwood Gardens

On the 2nd November the gardens at Marwood showed all the autumn colour in the specimen trees.   The bright day made the water sparkle and made a vibrant atmosphere of gold and maroon with detritus foliage.

Sketching was very relaxing and the results will be painted to show a series of vistas throughout the garden.

Pottery 2007

I love using the pottery wheel to throw pots and experiment with the glazes that emerge from the kiln.  It is a very relaxing art form which I have enjoyed getting to know again after doing some at North Devon College.

The Studio where I experimented  was Clare Sykes at South Molten where she holds classes and she can be contacted through the www.northdevonarts.co.uk web site
